About Me

Born on July 31, 2007, Alina Duan is a remarkably talented young pianist whose passion and dedication have set her apart as one of the most promising musicians of her generation. Under the mentorship of Steinway Young Artist Maxine Gong, Alina has honed her technical prowess and developed a profound emotional connection to music, allowing her to excel in both performance and interpretation of classical works.

Alina’s journey as a pianist began at an early age, and her commitment to the craft has led to numerous prestigious awards. Among her most notable achievements are First Prize at the Golden Key Music Festival (2024), Artista International Music Competition (2022), and Second Prize at the Shanghai International Piano Competition (2022). She has also won Third Prize at the American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition (2024) and placed at the Southwest Bach Festival (2020). Her talent has brought her to the stages of iconic venues like Carnegie Hall in New York and Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, captivating audiences with her artistry.

Beyond competitions, Alina made her orchestral debut in April 2024 as a soloist with the Pacific Academy Orchestra, a major milestone in her career. Her exceptional performance during this debut earned her an invitation to perform again as the soloist in Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, further establishing her as a rising star in classical music.

In addition to her musical accomplishments, Alina’s academic excellence and intellectual curiosity are equally impressive. She is currently a student at Pacific Academy and previously attended Santa Margarita Catholic High School. Alina has been recognized with the President’s Volunteer Service Award at the Gold Level (2024) for completing over 250 hours of community service. In 10th grade, Alina collaborated with her sister to create a groundbreaking music charity performance platform app. By 12th grade, she had independently pioneered an AI-driven music generation algorithm, embodying a seamless blend of musical artistry and technological innovation—a testament to her vision at the intersection of art and science.

Alina’s charity work is a central part of her life. She has volunteered extensively for organizations such as the CSUN Music Therapy Wellness Clinic, where she led music therapy sessions for children with autism, and Miracle for Kids, where she created origami to uplift children with severe illnesses. She is also actively involved with OC Animal Care, YESAction for environmental sustainability, and the Love for Our Elders project, sending letters to lonely seniors. Her work as a volunteer translator for Irvine Mayor Farrah Khan’s lecture on city planning also showcases her linguistic skills and community involvement.

Alina’s American debut piano solo charity tour began this October, with a very successful recital at the Irvine Barclay Theatre that drew an audience of over 700 attendees. Following this, her tour will continue at USC’s prestigious Cammilleri Hall. These concerts feature a diverse program of works by J.S. Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and contemporary composer Dun Tan. Alina is dedicated to using her talent to benefit others, and the tour will raise funds for the Pacific Academy Foundation and Bridge Horizons Foundation, supporting educational opportunities for low-income students.

Most recently, Alina performed at the Global Cancer Aid Charity Event in Lake Forest, continuing her commitment to using her music for the greater good. Her impressive musical achievements, combined with her innovative mind and compassionate heart, make Alina Duan a young artist destined for greatness on the world stage. With her ongoing solo tour and orchestral engagements, Alina is poised to leave an indelible mark on both the classical music world and the lives of those she touches through her charity work.
